I did my graduate work at the University of Cincinnati (philosophy) and my interests include logic and the philosophy of language. This page is an attempt to shed some light on my professional life. I have links to my vitae, academic work, and syllabi. Let me know what you think: nealhogan@gmail.com

My buddy, Ryan Flannery, and I spent some time getting to know Montague Semantics, Lambda Calculus, and other formal systems. We put together a set of notes that you can ta ke a look at here.

I've taught a bunch of courses, from logic to ethics. Check out some of my syllabi. My cv is there too.

At this time, I'm teaching at a few colleges, Harper College, Mchenry County College, Elgin Community College, and online at Cincinnati State College. So, I have plenty to keep me busy.

Much of my thinking is about the nature of communication. I ask questions like, What is linguistic communication?, What does it maean for communication to be successful?, and What is the relationship between humans and artificial agents, relative to language use? Here are some answers to some of those questions. Keep in mind that the documents in this directory are very preliminary (i.e., works-n-progress). Of course, I would appreciate that if you feel compelled to use my work, that you acknowledge the source.

The pic above is one that I took back in the summer of 2001 of the bell tower in the center of Utrecht. I spent around 30 days backpacking around Europe (mostly Eastern Europe). I'm not sure why it developed that way, but I like it.
